Day 13: What I want to do some day

Hmmm....

Honestly, its a short answer.

Vegas.

Mike and Tiff went to Vegas for their honeymoon and I was suuuuper duper jealous. Brad and I want to go sometime... eventually... when its affordable. Mike and Tiff want us to go with them again this summer but honestly... it's not affordable for us. Its hard for us to do stuff like that because Brad is the sole "breadmaker" in this house. I'm the spender. I go to school and don't take enough home each month to really make a difference. It's hard for us to just go home for a weekend... let alone set off for Vegas for a week. That would be trauma to our bank account!

But. Eventually. Thats the plan. Eventually.

I may be 45 before I get there, I may be retired with a head of white hair, but I will get there, and I'm going to have fun while I'm there. I'm gunna make it worth my time. By the time I get there I'll probably have my retirement fund in top shape (hopefully)... depending on the job that I get.. (eventually)... I just gotta get done with school and everything will fall into place (or so I keep telling myself).

Moral of the Story: What I want to do some day is visit Vegas with a smile on my face and have a good time!

Day 12: Favorite Disney Movie

(Yesterdays Post)..

Hmm. This one is a tough one.

...

...

I'm going to have to go with more than one... I'm going with a series.

The Shrek Series.

Brad and I can sit down and watch ALL the Shrek movies in a row, and not get bored. We love watching the movies. We own all of them. The humor and excitement in them is perfect for adults. I know.. they are kiddy movies, but, they are hilarious. Admit it! :)

A story about an Ogre, falling in love with a Human/Ogre... Who would have thought of that? I know the stories about the princess who turns into a monster at night yada yada yada... but Ogres? And talking donkey... I mean... Comeon! Thats just awesome. Then a cat... with boots. And who would have thought a Dragon would fall in love with a Donkey and have babies?? Lol.  These characters are what make the story.
I may be 20 years old, but this series is definitely my favorite of all Disney Movies.

Day 11: My best friend

my best friend????

huh. 7 years ago I wouldn't hesitate to blurt out a name of a girl, just like me, that was attached to my hip. Today, we rarely talk, we haven't seen each other in nearly a year (and that was only because of our siblings graduation from the same class), and we kinda had a "fall out".

Anywho. Today I'd have to say that one of my best friends... well, besides my husband, would have to be a girl named Sidney. We work together at the vet school and we seem to have a ton of stuff in common. We get along great and love to laugh together. We're able to share secrets about each others personal lives with each other and be able to keep them to ourselves. Sidney and I enjoy going out for supper together and spending lots of energy on laughing. Our main conversation piece is usually Horses and the Vet School.... outside of that its Boys and School. Lol. She kinda gets the blunt end of the stick from me now and again when my other half seems to not be in a good mood... ok... when I'm not in a good mood as well. Lol. We share a lot of the same feelings about school, men, horses, and work.

Although we've only know each other for a short 6 ish months, we get along great. She's just one of those people that I have found an "attachment" to. It's not every day that I am able to make a good friend, so I took advantage of the situation and together we have made a great friendship out of it.

My other Best friend would have to be Tiffany Van Roekel... (almost put Vermeer in there... oops)... She recently married Brads Best Friend from high school, and thanks to their close friendship Tiff and I have grown ever so close. We met at a new years eve party my Freshman year in College. It was an interesting night is all I'm going to say... I don't want to embarrass her too much :p. Since then we have grown extremely close. When Brad and I go home we usually stay at their house near Boyden. In a few weeks they are coming down here to visit us for the first time since they helped us move.

They were both involved in our wedding, and Brad and I were both involved in their wedding. We, all 4 of us, share personal stories and events that occur through our lives from day to day. We throughly enjoy spending time with our two best friends and hope that we have many more years in the future together as best friends. This is one friendship I definitely don't want to have a "fall out". We love them very much!

Day 10: My favorite object of technology

My Communication Device.

My Wireless Phone.

My Android.

My Cell Phone.

No doubts about it this technological device is what keeps me going through the day. I can play games, type word documents, watch my eagles, check facebook, call/text/email friends, and much more on this device.

This device here goes everywhere with me. I have all my needed apps and numbers, social networking sites, internet, email, 8 megapixel camera, video camera, and much more. I love this phone because it can virtually do anything I ask it to do. You can download thousands of apps off of marketplace and its awesome because you can personalize your phone to what you want to be on it. I love being able to have a computer in my pocket. Its so handy when you need to quick send an email... and you instantly know when someone emails you back.

Whats your favorite object of technology?

Day 7: What I don't leave the house without and why

I can guarantee that most people reading this have the exact same objects for this blog.

The Cell Phone.

I don't want to say that my cell phone is my life, but it is definately a need. I can't go through a day without calling my husband, seeing how his day at work is. I can't imagine being stranded on the side of the road because my car quit running and no way to call somebody. I take my phone everywhere because its an insurance.

Clothes.

Eh hem. Unless we'd want to see a lot of naked people walking around naked, I suggest we all wear clothes out of the house. Ha.

90% of the time when I leave the house I'm headed out to school, therefore, my backpack is glued to me. I'm not like the girls who carry 100lb purses around campus because they think their too good to carry a back pack. I have to have my back pack, otherwise Id have a super sore back from carrying all that weight on one shoulder.

The last thing that I never leave the house without is either my debit card, checkbook, OR my ISU ID.. sometimes my Drivers Licence also. These all are money, in some way. They either 1) prove your age. 2) contain money. 3) get you free rides on a bus. :) They are all handy tools.

What do you take with you every time you leave the house? IS it necessary or is it a want?

Day 6: My Current TV Addiction

Currently, and its been this for 3 years now, my TV addiction is Teen Mom2. This series has been my favorite since the first premiere of 16 and Pregnant 3 years ago. This show has been very educational for me.

I would never have understood the challenges of being a teen mom until this show came on. I'm glad that it wasn't part of my growing up. I always thought about what it would be like to be a young mom, but never that young. Even though I am now married, have a house, my husband has a stable job, and we are established in Ames, I could never imagine having a child right now. I have 2 dogs, they are my children, but they don't require half the attention that a baby would. I go to class 17 hours a week, I work 20 hours a week, and when I'm not working or in class I'm either doing homework or sleeping. The story of my life. I couldn't ever imagine throwing a baby into the mix. Sure, now that I'm married I think it would be a blast to have a child of our own, but right now is not the time. This Teen Mom series has taught me so much about the struggles of daily life that these parents go through. I don't think I could do it. I will say, that if it is in Gods plan for me to have a child in 9 months, then so be it. Everything is in God's hands. As far as Brad and I have planned, we do not plan to have children for another 5 years. I really want to get through school first, depending on weather Vet School is in God's plan for me or not. I want to be out of school and have a stable job before I am "with child". :) I think it would be a wonderful experience, one in a lifetime, but now is not the time. I can thank Teen Mom and Teen Mom 2 for helping me understand the true devotion that a child needs to have. I hope to wait for a few more years until we can provide for a proper up bringing for our child. We don't want to screw anything up! :)

For all you teens out there who are signing yourself up for pregnancy, or are planning something like the movie "The Pregnancy Pact"... watch a few episodes of Teen Mom, see how your life really can be changed, and double think about what your getting yourself into. Just a few words of advice from a Teen Mom Addict. :)

Day 5: My favorite place to eat

Oh boy, Oh Boy, OH BOY.

Hands Down. This one was easy peasy.

There is no question in this entiiiiire world that HuHot is my favoritest place to eat. I love the idea of being able to create your own stir fry. Adding whatever you want and however much you want. This place is delicious. I have had some of my best memories at HuHot. The First time ever was on a date with one of my Ex-Boyfriends. I know, not the best memory, but it was an exciting date. Brad and I ate here for our 1 year of dating anniversary, and many other times together with our best friends Mike and Tiffany Van Roekel.I ate there with my friend Nikki for her 18th Birthday... even though it wasn't her actual birthday we gone free Cheesecake Ragoons! :)  Brad and I ate here with my Dad and Aunt and Uncle shortly after we got engaged, that was an exciting night. And my favorite memory of HuHot was my Bachelorette Party. mmm. That was a fun night. We ate all the food we could eat, we laughed until our stomachs hurt and tears flew out our eyes, and we had a great time. We were able to get free Cheesecake Ragoons because of it being my bachelorette party, which we all gobbled down in about 3 seconds flat. There are many reasons why HuHot is my favorite place to eat. 1. Great Food 2. Great Memories 3. Great Environment. Its my number one place, and I doubt it will be changing any time in the near future.

Day 4: A song to match my mood

Alan Jackson's song Good Time is what expresses my feelings right about now.

Alright, alright alright. I know. It's only Wednesday, but this is seriously how I feel. I'm ready for that weekend to be here. I'm ready to hit the road, enjoy the Iowa Beef Expo, amazing weather, and friends from all around. I have been working all week.... well, as far as this week has gotten. I go to School from 8-2 everyday, work from 2-6 ish every day, then head home to do homework. Weekends are my get away from reality, and thats why I love them so dang much. I'm excited for this weekend. I'm excited for next weekend. and I'm excited for the weekend after next. This song makes me excited even more for the weekends to come. Today, this song was the first one I heard, thanks to CMT Music Countdown. :) This song has stuck with me through the whole day. It may be only Wednesday... But we're half way to the weekend! :)

Want a good time this weekend? Hit up the 33rd Iowa Beef Expo. Great event for those looking for something to do. Theres Trade-show Exhibitors, Judging Contests, Cattle Sales, and the Junior 4-H'ers Cattle Competition Show. Come out and have a good time!

Good Time Lyrics:
Work, work all week long
Punchin’ that clock from dusk till dawn.
Countin’ the days till Friday night
That’s when all the conditions are right.
For a good time
I need a good time.

Yea, I’ve been workin’ all week
And I’m tired and I don’t wanna sleep
I wanna have fun
It’s time for a good time

I cashed my check, cleaned my truck
Put on my hat, forgot about work
Sun goin’ down, head across town
Pick up my baby and turn it around
Good time,
Aahh, I need a good time

I’ve been workin’ all week
And I’m tired and I don’t wanna sleep
I wanna have fun
Time for a good time

HEY!

Pig in the ground, beer on ice
Just like ole Hank taught us about
Singin’ along, Bocephus songs
Rowdy friends all night long
Good time
Lord, we’re having a good time,

Yea, I’ve been workin’ all week
And I’m tired and I don’t wanna sleep
I wanna have fun
It’s time for a good time

Whew

Heel toe dosey doe
Scootin’ our boots, swingin’ doors
B & D Kix and Dunn
Honkin’ tonk heaven, Double shotgun
Good time,
Lord, we’re havin’ a good time

Cause I’ve been workin’ all week
And I’m tired and I don’t wanna sleep
I wanna have fun
It’s time for a good time

Shot of Tequila, beer on tap
Sweet southern woman set on my lap
G with an O, O with a D
T with an I and an M and an E
And a good time
Shhheww, good time
I’ve been workin’ all week
And I’m tired and I don’t wanna sleep
I wanna have fun
It’s time for a good time

Ahh, turn it up now.

A Shot of Tequila.
Beer on tap.
A good looking woman.
To set on my lap.

A G with an O, an O with a D
A T with an I an M with an E
That spells good time
A good time

Ohh, I’ve been workin’ all week
And I’m tired and I don’t wanna sleep
I wanna have fun
Time for a good time

Twelve o’clock, two o’clock three o’clock four
Five o’clock we know were that’s gonna go
Closing the door, shuttin’ em down
Head for that Waffle House way across town
Good time
Ohh, we’re havin’ a good time.
Ohh, I’ve been workin’ all week
And I’m tired and I don’t wanna sleep
I wanna have fun
It’s time for a good time

Ohh, I’ve been workin’ all week
And I’m tired and I don’t wanna sleep
I wanna have fun
It’s time for a good time

Ohh, I’ve been workin’ all week
And I’m tired and I don’t wanna sleep
I wanna have fun
It’s time for a good time

Ohh, yea, a good time.

I need a good time.

Yea, a good time.

Day 3: A pet that I some day hope to have

hmmm..... Oh boy. Where do I start? I have so many pets that I hope to have, the problem is narrowing it down to just one...

Many of you know that I love animals, so this has been a very tough decision for me. I have not gone with an exotic pet like the rare Asian Leopard Cat (see below), or even my favorite dog ever, the Australian Shepard.   Instead I have chosen a pent that would be fun, exciting, and entertaining with little responsibility.

I have chosen the all American Painted Turtle. Like most animals they are so cute as babies, and then grow up to be just a plain old turtle. I think a turtle would be lots of fun though. You could watch them swim for hours on end, let them bask in the sun on a warm sunny day, feed them lots of carrots, lettuce, and celery, and play with them too! :) I am sure you would never guess THIS of all animals to be my choice, but I've always wanted a turtle. When I lived in California, way back in the day ;), we owned 2 Desert Turtles. I barely remember them, but ever since we moved I've wanted a turtle again. We weren't able to take them to Iowa with us, they were native to California and that was where Dad felt them best to stay... I think. I don't really know. Haha. My dad's never been much of a pet person. But, to this day, I still believe a turtle would be fun. Brad and I go to PetSmart and PetCo once in a while, and I always have to go see if they have a turtle/tortose in the store. I think they are so much fun to watch.

Day 2: 2 years ago...

Here is yesterdays Blog. Sorry it's a day late, internet at home wasn't working very well.

2 years ago I was starting a new road in my life. I transfered from Dordt into Southwestern Iowa Community College (SWCC) as a 2nd semester freshman. I was freaked. I moved into an uptown apartment building, the same building as Brad and Katie Leusink (another girl we knew from Sioux Center). I was in a one bedroom apartment with no oven, stove, nothing. We had public restrooms, which meant everyone on that floor used them. Yuck. I was super excited to be at SWCC though and I was excited to be closer to Brad. I started classes in January and really enjoyed being an Ag student there. I gained many new friends and a lot of memories were made in Creston. Brad and I were in a serious relationship and we spent a lot of time with each other at school, working with calves, and at home.

Stepping into a whole new mode of life was quite the change. I was raised in Sioux County for 16 years of my life, and I was only 18. Sioux County was my lifestyle. Safe. Secure. Everyone knows everyone and everything. Creston was, well, Creston. I knew 2 people, Katie and Brad, granted I met friends very quickly because Brad had been in at SWCC before me, so I gained all of his friends as mine also. It was scary to be on my own, Own, OWN. Ma and Pa were over 3 1/2 hours away. I had no job. I had my own place. And I was at a completely new school with very few people.

23 months ago Brad proposed to me. The most exciting night of my life. He was so cute. :) I had an Idea that he was eventually going to propose because we had talked about it, but I had never expected it to be only 2 months after I moved down to Creston to be closer to him. I was ecstatic to plan a wedding.

2 years later, here we are. Married for 8 months, have our own house, 2 kids (dogs), he has a full time job after us graduating from SWCC, and I'm working on my Batchelors at ISU. 2 years ago I would have never expected us to be this far. I'd never guess we'd be so blessed together. 2 years later, I have everything I need, Brad, Love, and a Home.

How has your life changed in the last 2 years? Is it what you expected... or is it way off the course of what you guessed? Its amazing to think what your path is, and then to reflect back and see how different God's path was from yours!

Day 1: The Perfect Day

Everyone has a different idea as to what their perfect day would entail. I'm sure if you asked me a week ago what my perfect day would consist of, it would be different than todays. I bet the same if you ask me a week from now. I think the perfect day depends on multiple things.

I have a good idea today, of which my perfect day would include. I have many ideas as to what I would do with a million dollars, what I would do on a paid vacation, and many other things I would do with other peoples money. When it comes to me and my own money, I have a very good idea as to what a perfect day would be.

First off, I'm a poor college student. This is the main influence on what I would do. The second influence would be my mood. Today it is super warm out (compared to the last 4 weeks), and I would take advantage of it, but, what I want to do today wouldn't be possible because its winter. Therefore, my perfect day would occur in the summer.

If it were summer, and my husband was home, I would pursue this perfect day:

A day out on the water, not particularly in a large ski boat (although that is a total blast), but on a small, wooden, hand carved boat. One like this:

...perhaps you recognize this photo... :)

My hubby, myself, and our 2 dogs would go out on the water for a full day. With peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, fresh strawberries covered in sugar, and of course our Mt. Dew.

We'd go swimming out in the middle of the lake and laugh and be carefree. We'd go back to when we were in high school, just like it was Sandy Hallow all over again. We could fall back  to the "crush" stage, flirt, and giggle like we're teenagers again, just like when we first started dating, 4 years ago.

After swimming for hours, and our fingers and toes are all pruned up, we'd wander towards the beach. Here we could lay around, be lazy, and do more giggling and flirting.
After a day on the water, we would curl up under the stars and gaze up at them. We'd reflect upon where we've been, where we are, and where we're going in our future together.

...That, my friends, is my perfect day. A day spent with the one I love with many memories from the past, present, and many that are yet to come. I could use a day like this, my hubby and I both could.

Updates...

Well hello everyone!

I clicked on my bookmark for my blog... and was asked to sign in.
Sign in?.... Um... "I don't know what email I used or my password" is the thought that crossed my mind. Huh. Oops. "I guess it really has been a while since Ive been on here." Well... obviously I got it figured out... well... sorta. It took me a password request sent to my email address and entering all four (yes 4) email addresses that I have with this password. Now I just realize that the email that my password was sent to was the email address I used. Duh. (Its always the last one you try! :) I finally managed to get logged on and realize my last post was on November 17, 2010. "Wow... I was addicted to this whole blogging thing. What happened?" were my next thoughts. I figured I'd update on everything that has happened recently (well in the last 2 1/2 months that I have not posted on here.

I finished up my fall semester at ISU. Although my GPA suffered a little bit compared to what it was like @ SWCC, I felt like it was a successful first semester at ISU. Classes are definately harder here than at SWCC, and finals proved to be the same way. I have met lots of good friends through work at the vet school and just going to classes in general. I worked a lot at the concession stands for basketball games over break. Here too I met many friends.

I worked at the Vet School over the winter break also. I took a week off to go home for Christmas, and managed to get New Years weekend off. Brad worked for 6 weekends in a row going to shows around the US and hauling cattle for the people he works for. He managed to get Christmans AND New Years weekends off. Both weekends which we went home for celebrations with family and friends.

January 4th I started a new job on campus. I'm no working some hours at the meat research lab on a protein/ mitochondrial research project for a Dr. here at the college. I work with 2 grad students, 1 Brazilian College instructor, and 2 other Undergraduate students. I run a lot of tests and random solution mixtures for the research. I'm just a lab assistant. Dishes are my scpecialty and become a daily chore at work. I have a lot of fun working in the lab and doing the research. It has helped me out alot with the classes that I am taking this semester.

This spring semester, so far, has managed to be easier than that of the last semester. Key words: So Far. I am enrolled in Chemistry 177 (general chemistry), Biology 212 and 212Lab (second level in biology), Animal Science 216 (introduction to equine/ horses), as well as FSHN 101 (Food Science and Human Nutrition). I had to drop Animal Science 214 and Lab (Domestic Animal Anatomy and Physiology) because it was proving to be too much this semester. I picked up FSHN 101 instead. This is a class required for the major I just recently picked up. I'm still working on my Major of Animal Science; Pre-Vet Option, but have now added Meat Science as a minor. I took a Meats course last fall and I really enjoyed it so I decided to pick up a minor in that area.

I no longer will be able to graduate on time due to my schedule change. I will have to graduate the following semester, if I push, otherwise I will be a Super Senior when I graduate (5 years undergraduate all together). I still plan on applying to vet school but have really been considering possibly going for my masters and maybe even PHD before that. Just depends on how my cards are laid out at the end of Undergraduate school. We will see what God has planned for me, and I'll just follow his stoney pebble path.

Brad and I have been extremely busy recently. Brad went to the Denver Stock Show with Trausch Farms again this year (just like the last few years now). I stayed home and put in hours at the vet school and at the lab. Brad also has been around the country down south picking up calves and bulls for Trausch's. Hes been putting in alot of hours, but he really is enjoying his job. I see him about as often as I can stand ;). Its nice being home alone some times, but at other times its nice to have him home. He just recently bought a Ford Explorer. He's been driving his boss' farm truck since his car quit running. He gets the explorer next week. I'm excited because he'll be using less $ towards gas and putting more towards bills! :)

Moose and Sasha have been Moose and Sasha. Sasha is still a "big sister"... she likes to "tattle" on Moose and get him into trouble. Moose... like most boys... likes to get into trouble. A lot. He's recently into the "lets pick up whatever I can get my mouth on and chew it up" game. Its a constant battle trying to keep him in your sight while trying to do everything else at home. Sasha has learned to come "tell" me if he's being naughty. She always finds some way to get my attention. The two of them love the snow. Sasha hates the cold weather...but she loves playing in the snow. Moose is so butterball fat it makes him no difference.

Hopefully I'll be posting some new posts sooner than in 2 1/2 months again. :) Hope you all enjoyed being caught up on my life. Enjoy.

Happy Late Holidays! :)
