Fresh Start

Brad and I are both looking forward to the year of 2012. We are excited to see what is in store for both of us.

2012 also has me on my toes; going and going and going. I have been exercising regularly, trying to get myself back in shape. My knee is finally strong enough that I have been able to start running. The eliptical is my favorite machine to use, but I do run to help out some of the other muscles in my legs. I haven't been able to run due to my left leg being smaller than my right leg for the past 4 years since my surgery. I started lifting weights, and was able to get my left leg back to (almost) equal size to my right leg.

I started classes for the spring semester today. Mondays are going to suck royally. I have 4 hours of Organic Chemistry straight. I am looking forward to this semester though, as I start my research project tomorrow! We start killing hogs tomorrow for my samples, and then I get to start working on my meat oxidation project for one of the classes I am taking. This is also part of my job in the meat research lab here at ISU. I'm also taking a reproduction course this semester and am excited to see what that has in store for me.

Brad left for Denver, CO this AM for the National Western Stock Show with Trausch Farms (http://trauschfarms.blogspot.com/) They have 3 bulls they are putting on Display there: JawBreaker, 90 Proof, and Rico. He is very excited to be going out again as part of his job. He has been in and out of Ames quite a bit lately traveling down to Anita preparing for the trip. I am also excited as this gives me a whole week home alone!  Just perfect timing for the new semester! :)

We are excited for new changes to come this year as well. I will be moving down to Anita with Brad for the summer as I am going to be working just a few miles out of town at a hog facility, Shepp should HOPEFULLY be going onto Doggie School/Boot Camp for training to become a herding dog. I will be graduating in December, which will lead to even more changes to come in 2013!

Hope everyone had a great new year and that you enjoy this coming 356 days to come!
